Fuchka and Doi Fuchka

Food: 9/10
The food we had was generally very good. We started off with Fuchka and Doi Fuchka and thought they were excellent - crispy and light shell but also a terrific filling. The doi (yogurt) topping was sweetened just right. Next we had Grilled Lamb Chops and Jumbo Shrimp. We loved the lamb chops as they were tender, succulent, and had a charcoaled sweetness to it. The Jumbo Shrimp were great and had garlic sauce to accompany. We then got the Goat Rezala. While the flavor was amazing, it was a difficult to pick apart the meat. The flavor is reminiscent of korma. Next up was slow cooked Lamb Shank - very tender, super aromatic, and enjoyable. Great with naan too. Speaking of naan, we had cheese naan and garlic naan both which had a good fluff to sturdy ratio and tasted good. We also tried the Khalo Bhuna which is slow cooked beef that eliminates the fat which leaves you with beautifully tender, fall-apart chunks of meat, this comes with kichuri, a lentil-based rice. The Walima Roast was fire. The quarter chicken is tender and cooked in a cashew paste and yogurt base. Lastly for mains we had the Shorshe Ilish which is hilsha fish cooked in a mustard sauce - absolutely amazing and fragrant but hilsha itself has lots of bones! For dessert with had the Falooda which has a vermicelli base and many toppings like jelly, basil seeds, sago and mango ice cream. This was mildly sweet which we enjoyed. The mishti/mithai we had were the Nadia Shondesh, Vogh Sagar (our fav), Pista Roll, and Motichur laddo. The Vogh Sagar was just so moist, creamy, milky, and just such a delight to eat. For drinks we had the Tetul Fool which is a beautiful tamarind based cold drink that was so delicious and fruity, Mango Lassi that was good, and a refreshing Royal Mint that was a dream - tart and refreshing.

Price: 7/10
Prices are more expensive than your “typical” sit-down Bengali restaurant. We personally think the food quality is much more superior and this restaurant has a lot to offer. They make all their sweets in-house on top of their regular menu and big breakfast menu.

Atmosphere: 10/10
The vibes are more upper-scale with the decor and style and seating arrangements. It’s really a lovely spot to take family out or to treat yourself.

Service: 9/10
The server comes to your table and takes your order. Food comes in a reasonable amount of time. Staff is super nice.
